Passing two persimmon trees with leaves shining green and yellow, Mei saw them stand tall and then vanish into a black-and-white dot. The greenness of banana trees, guava trees and plantains popped out, seemingly growing darker in the twinkle of a blur. Chrysanthemums, cockscombs and aloes colored the windowsills, the balconies and the roofs. They looked indistinguishable and eventually became colorless. Passing by a fenced house, Mei threw a curious glance at a view of mysterious creepers winding themselves around one wall and another. Their long stems hung over the top.
